Orthodontics (braces)
Our Associated Dental orthodontics team is well versed in the field of orthodontics. In fact, our team has more than 100 years of combined experience in orthodontic treatment. We treat young children, teens and adults and offer conventional (metal brackets), Invisalign and clear brackets. Our treatment is tailored to each patient, and we work closely with the patient’s general dentist and other dental specialties to ensure the best outcome.
Orthodontists are qualified dentists who go beyond dental school to additional full-time university-based education in an accredited orthodontic residency program supervised by orthodontists. Additional training can last two or more academic years. Orthodontists learn about tooth movement (orthodontics) and guidance of facial development (dentofacial orthopedics) and are uniquely trained dentistry experts in straightening teeth and aligning jaws.
Invisalign
Invisalign is a new way of straightening teeth without calling attention to them. The procedure involves wearing a series of nearly undetectable aligners instead of brackets and wires. Most people cannot tell you’re wearing Invisalign—even up close.
Your orthodontist will determine if Invisalign is appropriate for you during an examination. He or she will prescribe a treatment plan and take an impression of your teeth. This impression is submitted to Inivisalign, which uses 3-D computer technology to create a series of precisely customized aligners. Patients then wear each set of aligners for about two weeks. As a result, teeth move gradually week by week until you’ve achieved the intended results—straighter teeth. Most Invisalign patients visit their orthodontist no more often than those who wear braces. And, the length of treatment is approximately the same.
